BANSKÁ ST A NICA

The Banská Stanica Contemporary platform has been operating since 2009 as a physical space for a wide range of artistic creation and creativity, with a focus on artist-in-residence programs.

Over the years, BSC has initiated hundreds of projects and residency programs, organized exhibitions and public workshops, and published numerous books. Since 2016, it has also been producing small print editions under the Edition BSC label, which aims to foster small-scale collecting. For BSC, continuity does not mean stagnation—quite the opposite. Themes such as growth, change, and migration periodically enter its practice, shaking up the pace of work and established routines.

From 2009 to 2018, BSC was based in the still-operational train station on the outskirts of Banská Štiavnica. Since the summer of 2018, it has been housed in the former high school building in the city center, where classrooms have been transformed into art studios, creative offices, and a graphic design workshop. In addition to its locations in central Slovakia, BSC launched a new residency program in the capital—Bratislava (Dom Vanek)—in the summer of 2025 and is actively contemplating both the near and distant future.
