LIGHT IT! #2 – workshop (21.-23.10.2016)

LIGHT IT! #2 Limited conditions for unlimited creativity 21. – 23. 10. 2016 Creativity doesn’t have limitations. In current time we are working more often in many fields of entertainment, from theatre to music production, and we are working with modern technologies, which enabling us to ever faster processes. The easy access to the many and modern technologies in the field of lighting design doesn’t have always a strong and solid conceptual development. Perhaps as a consequence of this are forgeting to search for simple and functional solutions. Every limitation, from the reduced budget to the limited material, is a chance to invest in simple creative solutions with a great impact, in order to create a unique experience. Before we start to work with big amount equipment, we should understand basic characteristics of light sources and experiment with minimal resources. Thanks to comparing of available resources and experiments based on games work becomes pleasure. The workshop will be a combination of physics basics with playful activities and creative experimentations in order to find an appropriate language able to describe the idea with the light. A path from theory to practice of lighting design, a combination of technical basis with conceptual development, under the slogan: Creativity without borders. Katarína Ďuricová and Tomáš Morávek (Anténa – network for independent culture in Slovakia) Tomáš Marny Morávek (CZ) Tomáš discovered the profession of a lighting technician thanks to the Prague dance conservatory Duncan Centre where he worked as a lighting technician and step by step, he started doing lighting designs mostly for students of this school. From this moment, he started being interested in the contemporary dance and lighting design. Afterwards as a freelancer, he started working for other Prague theatres and companies. He participated in many festivals and cooperated with choreographers and directors not only from Europe. Right now, he lives and works in Prague. Katarína Ďuricová (SK) In many European countries is a light technician mainly male role. It is not simple to be a light technician in man world, but many times it can be advantage. Katarína is currently working on festivals management, coordinating technical issues on Tanec Praha festival, providing technical support for series of Dance performances in Czech Republic, Japan, Turkey, France and Finland, working on new lighting design and preparing with Tomáš Morávek activities of project School of Lighting design for year 2017 in Slovakia.
